Spring 2012 President’s Message

As I near the home stretch of my presidency, I have recently had several moments to reflect upon our chapter and be simply astounded at the goodwill and camaraderie that exists among us. I’ve felt proud to represent such a fine group of people -not just agents – but people who care about one another as well as about our industry, clients and future.

“The Sharon Show” a HUGE Success

“The Sharon Show” a HUGE Success

Past President Sharon Alt flew in from New Orleans to host a “daytime talk show” for FWAHU on Thursday, January 12th. She interviewed guests on a wide range of topics, including upcoming FWAHU meetings, new technology and new education opportunities for the new year, legislation, and some fresh business ideas. FWAHU also unveiled its new smart phone app, designed by Mama Frog Apps – something that’s sure to gain attention nationwide. But the highlight of the show was Sharon’s interview with Misty Baker. After stepping down as TAHU President-Elect a few months ago, Misty finally got to tell her side of the story. We’re pleased to report that Misty is happier and healthier in the new year and may have a big announcement soon. Stay tuned…

Please join FWAHU for a special breakfast meeting on Thursday, February 9th. The day will begin at 8:30am with a legislative update from members who attended NAHU’s Cap Conference and the TAHU Legislative Day. After that, Lisa White with VSP will be provide a 30 minute presentation on vision coverage followed by a one-hour CE on dental coverage (pending approval) from Tiffany Kaiser with Ameritas Group. We’ll also have an opportunity to meet several other dental & vision carrier reps and visit with them during our exhibitor time. At a time when agents are scrambling to find ways to replace the commission they’re losing thanks to health reform, don’t miss this opportunity to learn about two potential revenue streams.
