Sharon Alt is the founder and president of Alt Benefit Consultants, a highly respected third-party administration company based in Fort Worth, Texas. Alt Benefits specializes in the administration of tax advantaged plans such as flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, and health reimbursement arrangements.
For years, Sharon has been a recognized leader in the employee benefits industry, and she is a frequent speaker at HR and insurance conferences nationwide. While Sharon is well-versed on a wide range of topics, she is most passionate about the growing movement toward consumerism in health care. She believes that the solution to our current health care crisis lies in asking consumers to take a more active role in their health care decisions, and it was with this goal in mind that she teamed up with Eric Johnson to form Agent Allies.
Sharon is a past president and very active member of the Fort Worth Association of Health Underwriters, where she was recently honored with the Donna Carnall Career Achievement Award. From 2004-2007 she hosted an internet talk radio show called The Benefits Buzz: Inside Health Insurance in America. Her weekly radio broadcasts helped educate insurance agents and HR professionals nationwide, and for her efforts she was presented with a presidential citation from the National Association of Health Underwriters. Currently, Sharon pens a monthly column for Benefits Selling Magazine called By Consumer Design, and she was a speaker at the Benefits Selling Expo in both 2006 and 2007. She sits on the advisory boards for Benefits Selling Magazine and for First Horizon Msaver and is a national instructor for NAHU’s CDHC certification class.
Sharon has been married to Chris Alt for 27 years. She has three children and seven grandchildren. The newest additions to the family, Makenzie & Mason, were born September 26th, 2008.
