John Edward Merrifield, CLU, RHU, REBC began his insurance career more than 29 years ago and is the founding president of IFC Benefit Solutions, Inc. IFC has been in business for over 20 years and has continued to grow by listening to our clients, improving processes, and updating our technology to better serve our clients needs. IFC’s clients enjoy John’s attention to detail, personalized service, cost consciousness, and expert advice.
In 2002, John obtained his Executive M.B.A. from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, John holds the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and Registered Employee Benefit Consultant (REBC). John is known as an expert in the insurance field and has authored articles on insurance and estate planning, received numerous professional awards, and has been featured in the media for his business endeavors. He has also been honored as a TCU Neeley School of Business Alumni of the Decade and BSA District Award of Merit. John is a member of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, The Society of Financial Service Professionals, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, National Association of Health Underwriters, Texas Association of Health Underwriters, and Fort Worth Association of Health Underwriters.
John’s hobbies include being an advocate for child safety, an active church member, and spending time with his family. John successfully led a statewide seatbelt coalition that brought significant attention to seatbelt safety laws and their importance. The State of Texas passed two seatbelt laws during the 76th and 77th Texas Legislature, which increased the backseat passenger seatbelt age requirement from 4 to 17. John has served on the Board of Trustees for the Ronald McDonald House, president of Ballet Concerto, scoutmaster, Assistant District Commissioner, and member of the District Committee of Trinity Trails District with BSA. John enjoys volunteering his time by teaching a weekly class at the Fort Worth TCU campus. John and his wife Skylar are members of the Jewel Charity Ball benefiting Cook Children’s Hospital, proud parents of four children, and have six wonderful grandchildren.
