Rob Wendling

Rob Wendling entered the insurance industry after a 4 year career in Restaurant Management. He started his insurance career in 1996 on a temporary assignment with Aetna Inc. which blossomed into a Full Time position within the Accounts Receivable area. In 1998 he pursued an opportunity to develop professionally in a new functional area, Small Group and Select Underwriting.

After a 2 year career in Underwriting, he felt the need to explore the business from the Sales perspective, and was offered an Associate Account Executive position with Lockton Dunning Benefits. During this tenure at Lockton, Rob received his General Lines Agent license while supporting several large group and small group clients in an administrative/consultative role. The following year a management position within the same Underwriting Department he previously worked in at Aetna opened up, so Rob moved back to Aetna, where he has remained ever since. Currently, Rob manages the Small Group Renewal Underwriting Teams for the Mid-America and West Region, representing approximately 28 states.

Rob’s involvement with the National Association of Health Underwriters began in 2007 as a Media Chair for his local Fort Worth chapter. He continued his volunteerism with FWAHU through a Treasurer role from 2008 to 2010, earning along the way a Presidential Citation for his work as Media Chair from the Texas Association of Health Underwriters (TAHU) and FWAHU’s Volunteer of the Year during the 2007-08 Chapter year. He also currently serves as TAHU’s Technology chair, responsible for website maintenance and design.

Rob has extended his volunteerism beyond the Association and has worked for several initiatives including March for Babies, supporting the research to improve pre-term baby outcomes. He has also participated in Junior Achievement, a nonprofit economic education organization teaching youth the key concepts of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy in underserved Dallas communities. He currently lives in Keller, TX with his wife Kriss and 3 children, Aaron, Aedan and Rachel.
